Hi all! This is my first ever blog post! I thought I would start by talking about just a few things that I LOVE and have repurchased (or will repurchase) time and time again. Let’s get started:
The Clinique Liquid Facial Soap
This is a face wash by Clinique, which comes in different ‘strengths’ for different skin types. I use the one for combination/oily skin and it works SO well. It is essentially just a clear liquid formula that you pump out and lather onto the face. It lathers well and washes all the oil and any residues off my face. It leaves my skin feeling clean and free of oil. As I do have oily skin, I am quite acne prone, but I find using this every morning and every night just clears up my skin so well by drying out any spots. It does leave my skin feeling tight and dry so I always make sure I moisturise with any regular facial moisturiser afterwards and that does the trick.
In Australia, this retails for $29.00 and can be found at lots of different stores such as Myer and David Jones who both have Clinique counters. I have gone through so many bottles of this and I don’t use anything else as my face wash. I 100% recommend this for acne prone or oily skin!
The Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
I use this product to remove any make up that I’m wearing and it does such a good job at removing it all! I take a cotton pad and soak it in the micellar water and then I use that to remove ALL my make up. I find this takes EVERYTHING off, even the most stubborn mascaras and eyeliners! For more stubborn make up I hold the damp cotton pad over the area (e.g. my eyes) for a few seconds before wiping it off and I find that makes it come off much better. It doesn’t leave my skin feeling oily and it doesn’t leave behind any residue, which I love about it. It is so gentle on the skin and honestly feels like I’m just using water on my skin. I think this product is well suited to sensitive skin especially. I have gone through about 3 bottles of this stuff and since I discovered this, I haven’t used any other make up remover. I have heard about other micellar waters such as the Bioderma one, but I find that one to be expensive and that it does the same job as the Garnier one. I LOVE this stuff and will repurchase time and time again.
This can be found at most pharmacies and supermarkets. It comes in two sizes – a large 400mL bottle which retails for $13.99 (although you can find it cheaper) and a smaller bottle, which is 125ml and this is $6.99. I recommend buying the smaller bottle and seeing if you like it before buying a big one.
The Urban Decay Original Primer Potion
I feel like everyone and their mum has heard about this primer. If you haven’t by some chance, let me give you the low down – this is an eyeshadow primer used to make your eyeshadow colours look more vibrant and last longer. In my opinion, it does both – very well. This is a creamy nude colour primer which you apply straight to the eyelid and blend out with your finger before applying eyeshadow. It really grabs onto the shadows and sticks them down so they wont budge all day! I have gone through about two of these and I currently have a back up in my make up drawer for when I run out of the one I’m using because they are a little harder to get your hands on in Australia!
This product can be found at Mecca in Australia and it comes in two sizes – $20 for 5.7g and $33 for 10g of product. I find that this lasts me AGES – I’m talking YEARS. So if you think the price is a bit much for an eyeshadow primer – remember that it is an investment and it will last a very long time because you really don’t need much at all.
The Australis Bright Eyes Under Eye Concealer
This is a new product that I have discovered at my local Priceline (pharmacy/drugstore) and I haven’t heard anyone talking about it yet – so I thought I’d jump in and shine some light on it. I believe this is a relatively new product and I bought it on a whim, but I’m so glad I did. The name suggests it is an under eye concealer, but I think it’s more of a corrector/brightener. This comes in a thin black tube with a pen tip like applicator and a button which dispenses the product into the brush head. It comes in two shades – musk (light pink) and banana (pale yellow). I personally have only tried the pink one and I have found that it does such a good job at brightening my under eyes and cancelling out blue discolouration. Whilst I do not suffer from eye bags, I do have very very thin skin around my eyes and very prominent veins, which causes my under eyes to often look blue and dark. This stuff is honestly amazing – it isn’t one of those bright orange correctors which just ends up blending in with your concealer (making that look orange) or just sitting there and peeping through so it’s super obvious that your under eyes are LITERALLY BRIGHT ORANGE. No, this is different. This is a pale pink colour which blends into the skin beautifully, cancelling out the discolouration and brightening the under eyes. This makes such a big difference, I cannot recommend it enough! It is easy to use and very affordable.
I found this at my local Priceline for $14.95 and it is definitely worth every cent. I haven’t finished my first tube yet, but I am close and when I do, I’ll be running back to the pharmacy to grab another one.
Annnnnd that’s it for my empties right now! I thought I would keep my first post short and simple 🙂 If there are any products that you’d like me to swatch/review then feel free to let me know in the comments!
